Days 11/12/13 – Pekituh Hut – Ahuriri River
Day 11
Route : Pekituh Hut – Stodys Hut – in the forest
Length : 18 km 6,5 h (139 km)
Initially we went downhill for the most part. We opted for the more difficult alternative over Breast hill in favor of better views. From there we had a fantastic view over Lake Hawea. We made it to Stodys Hut without any problems.

Stodys Hut is an old hunters hut which was not really suitable as a good accommodation. We just took a rest before we started the steep descent through the forest. Here we ran into people from the previous hut

Due to the exertions of the descent, we decided to settle down in the middle of the forest by a stream, set up our tents, hang our Klammoten out to dry, and rest up for the next day

Day 12
Route: In the forest – Top Turner Hut – before the mountain
Length : 12 km (151 miles)
As with the second part of the previous day, continued progress was very tedious. Logan at some point suggested us to track down the upcoming difficult climb and crossing of Martha’s Seattle for the next day. So we found a comfortable spot on the river’s edge and pitched our tents there.

To our delight the place was free of sandflies. After dinner, pasta with tuna, we played another round of chess and checkers

Day 13
Route : On the mountain – just before meeting point
Length : 19 km (170 km)
Altitude difference : 700 m
Dream: Perfect clones that exist in parallel. They are created by machines. All but one could be destroyed again

It was a good thing we saved the steep climb for the day before. Not only were we exhausted, but it wasn’t that far to our meeting point with Sarah, Tim and the two girls.
