When ever Portuguese people find the time, the retire to one of the many coffee places. Usually they have a pastel and a café (which would be an espresso in other countries). The most famous once are Pastel de Nata, which means biscuit with cream .
Just the other day, watching telly, I have learned that the average Portuguese drinks 11 kg of coffee a year.
Last week I saw an older lady at my local Frutaria having a shot of coffee while shopping. (It’s only a 20 square meter shop) 😉
