Day 4 – Villatuerta
42 km (114 km) 9h
We had spent the night in a German hostel today. It is called Albergue Paderborn. It is run by changing personnel from Germany. Since I “only” ran 20 km yesterday and I now also have the bandage to stabilize my knee, I planned a few more kilometers today, almost two daily stages. But I allowed myself a half hour lunch break on the way for a change. The lunch break was a decision point. Krass Weise has held the bandage, what I had hoped from it. No, actually it exceeded my expectations many times over. In Puente de Reina I had to consider whether to continue running. Since 25 km was too little for me and it was also only around noon, I decided to run the other 17 km to the next hostel. It was the hottest day so far and my feet hardly wanted to carry me further. Luckily Markus caught up with me the last kilometers. He still pulled me up to the hostel. I just cursed a little bit and had to fight a little bit with my circulation when I arrived. After shower and lie down everything was good again
The Way of St. James is roughly divided into stages. If you stick to it, you always meet the same pilgrims in the evening. Since I have not done that today, the reunion has now, except for a few other hard-boiled, done
Today, by the way, we had early summer weather after some fog.
