Today I actually managed to run less than 20 km. The next open hostel would have been only after another 17 km
I was already warned by the monastery keeper that there is no water or food on the way. So I have to prepare for tomorrow. Water I take from the tap in my hydration bladder and otherwise I have a piece of cheese, bread and some fruit and vegetables in my backpack
I run every morning anyway first 2-3 hours before I eat anything. Therefore, no need to panic
Today, questions came up from the audience
1. Why am I pilgrimaging the Way of St. James?
This is a good question, which I would have answered differently two years ago than today
Two years ago it was the challenge and the desire to walk such a long distance in one piece. Now I would extend the whole thing a little bit, because I have a big change in my life ahead of me anyway. Therefore, it is something more “spiritual”, in the sense of escaping from everyday life to think about what I actually want from life. My personal coaching has already prepared and opened me for this the last months. (More about this later)
2. Why do I run this route and no other?
There are many routes throughout Europe and also some in Spain. The Camino Frances, which I walk, is the most famous and most frequented. There is no personal reason, except that it is particularly long
3. Have you discovered something new about yourself and the world?
Yes, especially that being happy doesn’t require much more than a backpack with clothes, a sleeping bag and some food. More insights will surely follow
Today I arrived at the Santa Clara Monastery at about 12:30. It is already something special to spend the night in a building from the 13th century. Spartan, practical, good. (And cold)
I spent the rest of the day in the sun with a coffee on a bench in front of a church. If only it were always like this
My drawing Spaniard turned out to be a masseur. After his treatment yesterday evening and a short day today, my legs are feeling much better
Tomorrow it can go off again properly!
