Day 20 – Cacabelos
43 km (570) 9h
Today I descended in beautiful weather and the most beautiful view of the whole Camino and ended in one of my hardest days. I landed in beautiful poop. Literally, that’s the name of the place I’m staying at tonight. I definitely still need to figure out how that name came about
The descent was incredibly beautiful, from the trees, to the light in the morning, to the narrow rocky paths. I had to stop constantly to get my fill of the beauty. I hope the pictures convey that to some extent
Today is my first day back on the road without IBUS in my blood. My left foot has developed really well. That still made me think at breakfast, at the first stop, if I can still make it to Finisterre, the end of the world, before my flight leaves. If I average 30 km a day, I’ll get there
That was then also the reason why I took only a piece of cake and a coffee in Ponferrada instead of staying overnight. It can as 5 km a village. Only unfortunately were once again all hostels on the way to. Then I just worked with my 43 km already a little ahead
Today three great things happened to me. First an older gentleman congratulates me quite cordially to the choice of the way, which I apparently correctly met. I just followed the arrows on the path
Shortly after, a little grandma comes up to me. She asks if I know Spanish and starts to warble me a hiking song
Arriving at the hostel, my roommate greets me. Upon introduction, it turns out that he is from Murcia, the city Adriana is from. The girlfriend of the second roommate also happens to be from there. That’s how small the Camino is sometimes
Today was a busy but happy day.
The album goes in incredibly well with me while walking. The mix of electro and classical instruments. Simply the hammer
Especially the songs “Red dressed” and “Caprice”
With the latter, I always get goosebumps in the last third and I almost have to cry a little.
