Day 30 – Fisterra
35 km (872) 7h
The day started cloudy, but got clearer and warmer as the day went on. I could hardly wait to complete the last stage. Unfortunately, it dragged on considerably more than I would have liked. The last 10 km, with the finish line already in sight, felt longer and longer. “Just up this hill, then I’m there”, I kept telling myself. But it just would not and would not be.
But at some point the ray of hope, the Faro, the lighthouse at the end of the world
It was done. After more than 600 km ( this year) and almost 900 kilometers (in both years together) I reached the goal I had set for myself
Disillusionment set in, and at the same time the joy of having taken the detour via Muxia. The lighthouse is, at least from my point of view, a symbol of the end of a long route. It is not a place worth coming to for the view. The view I had the day before in Muxia, with the chapel above the cliffs in the water, where the already described wet of the sea smashes and demonstrates its magnificent violence
This shows me exactly what the Camino has taught me, it is not the goal that has driven me, but the many moments and hardships along the way. Arriving is one more day before the next that adds to the overall happiness.
